Waiting game...
I've received some questions about where the new house is located -- sorry about that! I didn't even realize I left that out. :) The house is in Lake Highlands near the intersection of Walnut Hill and Fieldcrest.
Good news -- the house was inspected yesterday and came back with an excellent report! The inspector was impressed with the condition of the home considering it's 41 years old.
Brent is meeting with another builder today to do a walk-through of the house and get a quote. Both of the builders we're considering do excellent work so it will be a difficult decision!
Bad news -- the roof needs to be replaced (which Brent and I had assumed). We submitted an addendum to our contract with the seller and now we're waiting to hear back... if all goes well, we will be that much closer to owning the home. If it doesn't go very well, then Brent and I decided we'll walk away and know it wasn't meant to be. Cross your fingers that whatever happens is for the best! :)
On anther note... we had a great Easter! We went to my parent's and it was so much fun to be with my brother and sisters. It's rare these days that all four of us kids are able to get together. Claire was a BIG hit, as usual! I took some really cute pictures that I'll post this evening. She is growing and changing so fast... I wish we lived closer to Lacey and Tim so we could see Claire more regularly or I wish Lacey and Tim lived in Dallas. :)
hugs!

SOLD
YEAH! We bid on a house yesterday and found out this morning that the seller accepted. If all goes well, the deal will be finalized in about 10 days. We purchased the house with the goal of remodeling it. During the renovations, we'll stay in our current home. We're both really excited and can't wait to get started!
Here are pictures of the house -- keep in mind that we're changing everything so don't let the exterior or interior frighten you. ha!
We plan to make TONS of changes -- remodel kitchen, enlarge master bedroom & bathroom, add nursery suite/study, add bedroom, etc... please keep us in your thoughts and prayers because I hear that remodeling a home or building a new one can really test your marriage. ha! :)
The pictures below are from a house with a similar floorplan. Our renovations will look somewhat like this...

I'll post updates on the progress so please check back often! If you'd like to leave us a comment or two, that option is now available (no sign-in required). Click on "comment" at the end of each blog entry.

Tuesday...
hey there! sorry i've been neglecting the blog. i've been crazy busy with work.
since i pulled all-nighters last week for work on both Thursday and Friday, brent was pretty much on his own come Saturday. He went down to Greenville to partake in one of the biggest party days of the year in Dallas while I vegetated on the couch and tried to recover. Luckily I managed to make it out of the house that night to meet up with Brent, Preston and Sloane.
on sunday we visited our friends angie and dewayne and their newest addition, william jackson. he is soooo precious and so tiny!
Congrats to Annie and Tyler on their engagement! For those of you that do not know Annie, she was a bridesmaid in our wedding.
We received these pictures today from Brent's sister and brother-in-law of precious JAC and cutie-patootie Isabel. So cute!

Big snow in Dallas...
So... it was predicted that Dallas would receive around 4 inches of snow last night and this morning. Does this look like snow to you? These photos were taken at 9am today.

You can tell the sun is out and it's a beautiful day here in Dallas; although, a little chilly. I wish I could have taken pictures of the REAL snow yesterday at my office. It was beautiful! I'm definitely a Texas girl and not use to the snow -- my car was covered and of course, I opened my trunk to put my brief case in and wham! A TON of snow fell into my trunk. Oops! :) I hope no one saw me! It was so cold that I left it and dealt with it once I got home in the garage (which it was still frozen, by the way).
Gotta run... will post pics of the living room today.
hugs!

Change is good
Yeah! I'm excited to report that we made some changes tonight to the front living room and dining room. We got all of the remaining wedding gifts moved into the guest bedroom and the furniture moved. We're both happy with the change. I'll post pictures of the rooms tomorrow!
In order to move the furniture, we used EZ Sliders. I purchased the ones with a felt bottom so they wouldn't scratch the wood floors. Highly recommend them!

Bad news on the dishes...
We found out yesterday afternoon that Arte Italica, the manufacturer of the dishes we registered for, is discontinuing the line! However, there is another brand that looks almost identical. We plan to keep the serving pieces we received, but exchange the dinnerware for the other brand.
Arte Italica "Tuscan" plate (discontinued)

Match "Convivio" plate (replacements)

Hello!
Welcome to the Spivey blog! We're glad you found us.
Life is good. Now that the wedding has past, we're adjusting to just "being" and loving every minute. There are a few wedding gifts still sitting in our front living room looking for a spot to rest, so hopefully we'll find some space soon. We have REALLY enjoyed putting our wedding gifts to use.
Brent is especially fond of the Dyson handheld vacuum (thanks Reagan and Serg) and the Fry Daddy (thanks BW and Wayne).

I'm enjoying all of the gifts, but I think I'm in love with the wine chiller (thanks Kacy and Nick). It's amazing!

Please check back often for updates and I hope to post the wedding pictures soon!
