Lifeguard Not on Duty

We do not have a swimming pool in our backyard, however, we do have one across the alley! :) Our neighbors are nice enough to let us use their pool anytime we please. Therefore, while I'm sitting at the office all day and Brent has the luxury of working from home, I often receive photos like this in the middle of the afternoon. Spoiled puppies... for sure!

Celebrating Fran

I just found out a friend's mom passed away yesterday. My heart aches for the family.... we had the privilege of meeting Greg's mom, Fran Thompson, over the recent Memorial holiday. I always heard about Fran through my friend Annie and her sister Amy, who is married to Greg.

Fran complained of stomach aches, but otherwise appeared okay. She swam with us in the pool, helped us cook... That next week she was diagnosed with cancer of the liver and abdominal lymph nodes. She passed away peacefully yesterday.

Greg set up a wonderful page on Facebook to celebrate Fran's life... feel free to check it out and please lift their family up in prayer.

I'm an awful blogger...

Yes, we're still here. I pulled up our blog today and was blown away when I realized how long it's been since the last post. An entire year!!!! Yikes. So much for "making a comeback" with my last entry!

I promise to be better.

First off, this blog needs a makeover! Mr. Hendricks, our beta fish with 9-lives and also known as "The Terminator," is no longer with us so I need to remove him from the header AND both Elvis and JT are in doggie heaven... but we added two puppies to the Spivey clan. You will definitely hear all about our new little angels (but more often heathens), Trixie and Dozer. Lulu is still her sassy-self except now suffers from severe anxiety thanks to the new puppies.... we're working on it. :)

I should probably update the photo of me and Brent, as well. It appears marriage agrees with me because I've put on a little bit of "extra lovin'" shall we say. I am determined to get back on track with Weight Watchers and hop on the bandwagon of the P90X craze. I hear the workouts are intense but that the system works -- beat your muscles into submission to lose weight -- what a concept! :) In all honestly, I would love to return to boot camp. I'm currently noodling that one over, but until I decide, I need to get started with P90X.

Life is good. Brent and I are healthy, happy, and gainfully employed (that counts for something in this economy, right?!). Both of our families are well too!

hugs!

p.s.
I originally planned to title this post "Knock knock..." until I realized I already used that one... like in Sept. 2008 when I promised to visit the blog more often. Oops. Oh well. Like I said, I promise to be better. :)
