Wow... we had a huge storm last night and I have the bags under my eyes to prove it. Brent is out of town for work (returns tonight - YEAH!) and I never get good sleep when he's gone... not that I got to sleep much with the storm. I am a scaredy-cat when it comes to thunderstorms. My mother laughed when I moved to Dallas because I moved into a high-rise and as she's standing on the balcony for the first time, she says, "Oh, imagine the lightening storms you'll be able to see. Oh. Wait. You're my child who doesn't like storms." A few seconds pass and she asks, "Why did you move into a high-rise again?" :)
The lights went out last night and Elvis, our bulldog who is about as afraid of storms as I am, was stuck to my side. He even attempted to climb onto the couch which he knows is not permitted! Then, once the raining and lightening subsided (around 1:30am), I decided it was time to put Elvis to bed. He sleeps in the utility room with easy access to outside because of the doggy-door. Well... he was not having anything to do with the utility room because the doggy door put him that much closer to the rain. Keep in mind the electricity is out; therefore, I'm standing there holding a candle in one hand and pointing to the utility room with another. He doesn't move so I grab his collar to pull him and there he goes -- pees. All. Over. The. Floor. I even stepped in it. UGH! At this point, it's near 2am, the lights were out, the dog just peed on the floor and I just stepped in it because I couldn't see in the dark. Lovely.
When I finally crawl into bed, after washing my feet in the sink, of course, and blow out my candle, I think I see someone in our bedroom standing near our armoire with one hand on their hip. Normally, I am not such a scaredy-cat (Brent is :) ), but I must of worked myself into a frenzy over the storm enough to convince myself that yes, there was someone in our bedroom. Since the electricity was out, I was not able to set the house alarm. Anyway. I've babbled on enough... to wrap up the story -- I "slept" (read as: lie awake all night with eyes wide open) with a couple of candles lit on the bedside table for the remainder of the night. I think I may of gotten 2.5 hours of sleep. And it turns out that the "person in our room" ended up being the clothes rack I use to hang my wet clothes. Nice. But at the time, I swear it looked like a body! hahaha. :)
